Pilar Orero, Estel·la Oncins, and Anna Matamala (TransMedia Catalonia) have received approval by the ITU (International Telecommunication Union) for several documents on accessibility in the metaverse

Pilar Orero, Estel·la Oncins, and Anna Matamala (TransMedia Catalonia), researchers within the AccessCat Network, have participated in the 3rd FG-MV Meeting of the International Telecommunication Union in Geneva, from 3 to 5 October. All three of them have achieved different milestones in terms of accessibility in the virtual world.

Firstly, two documents co-edited by Estel·la Oncins, Anna Matamala, and other authors on the accessible metaverse have been approved:

  • Technical Specification “Requirements of accessible products and services in the metaverse: Part I – System design perspective”
  • Technical Specification “Requirements of accessible products and services in the metaverse: Part II – User perspective”

Furthermore, Pilar Orero has acted as co-chair for Working Group 8 Sustainability, Accessibility & Inclusion, and a document co-edited by her has been approved: Revised survey on “Guidance on how to build a metaverse for all”..

Finally, Estel·la Oncins, together with two other experts, has suggested a New Work Item to the Task Group Accessibility Inclusion: Draft new technical report on Guidance and Accessibility of Web3 economy layer of the metaverse for women.
