The commitment of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona to the accessibility of the AccessCat Network website

The AccessCat Network website has been built with the aim of facilitating universal access to all people who consult it regardless of their physical, sensory or intellectual capacities, and the technical context of use with which they do so (type of device, software, connection speed, environmental conditions, etc.).

For this reason, we have adopted the recommendations of the World Wide Web W3C Consortium in order to eliminate barriers that hinder access to information and communication. These recommendations are specified in the accessibility guidelines of the WCAG 2.1 website

The commitment of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona is to maintain compliance with the ‘Double-A’ (AA) level of conformity, as required by European and state legislation in public administrations.

Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council of October 26, 2016 establishes the rules that are required of the member states so that all the websites and mobile applications of the public sector, regardless of the device used to access it, meet the accessibility requirements set out in the EN 301 549 v3.2.1 standard (of August 2021), of accessibility requirements suitable for the public procurement of ICT products and services in Europe.

The EN 301 549 v3.2.1 standard is based mainly on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, of August 2018. Specifically, level AA must be met. However, the standard also has other additional, mandatory and conditional requirements.

The directive is mandatory but not directly applicable, so at the state level, a real decree has been developed that develops the scope and requirements, at least. The state transposition is Royal Decree 1112/2018, of 7 September, on the accessibility of websites and applications for mobile devices in the public sector.
