Who are we?
STS-b (Barcelona Science and Technology Studies Group) researches the interaction between science, technology, and society, with a special focus on technologies developed with and for marginalised groups, such as people with intellectual disabilities, mental health conditions, young people, and the elderly. The group's research explores how these technologies impact autonomy and participation opportunities for these communities. Additionally, STS-b studies meaningful participation methods, seeking new spaces for dialogue and co-production of knowledge between users and experts—both in technological development and in advising on public policy.
