Researcher Andrea Granell (DIDPATRI) and the affiliated entities Dincat and Èlia Sala led a roundtable dedicated to the Accessibility Code of Catalonia.

The second edition of the Film Festivals Learning and Sharing HUB (FFLASH-HUB) took place on the 17th and 18th of July. FFLASH-HUB is an international conference for film festival managers, organised by Catalunya Film Festivals, an affiliated entity of the Network. This event serves as a meeting and training point for film festival professionals from around the world. Over two days, it covers several topics related to festival management, such as accessibility.

Andrea Granell Querol, from the DIDPATRI research group, participated as a speaker in the roundtable discussion Accessibility Code of Catalonia: Opportunities and Challenges for True Inclusion. She participated alongside Luciana Burin (from Dincat, an affiliated entity), Rubén Domínguez (from ECOM), and Èlia Sala, also an affiliated entity, who took on the role of moderator.

During the discussion, Granell spoke about the new legal framework, highlighting key aspects of the code:

  • It recognises and includes groups that previously received insufficient attention, such as oral deaf individuals, signing deaf people, deafblind individuals, and those with intellectual disabilities or mental health disorders.
  • It emphasises the importance of accessibility in communication within the cultural sectors.
  • It introduces concepts such as attitudinal barriers.
  • It remarks the importance of training staff in public service roles.
