This action is part of the Science Carriage initiative, jointly promoted by UAB and FGC.
This spring, if you travel on FGC trains, keep an eye out: you may come across AccessCat researchers sharing their work during the journey. Anna Matamala, Pilar Orero, Estel·la Oncins and Carme Mangiron, from TransMedia Catalonia (UAB), will be among the experts taking part in this year’s Specialist’s Seat sessions, an outreach and knowledge-transfer initiative that places a researcher on an FGC train to engage directly with passengers and answer questions about their field of expertise.
The sessions were opened by Anna Matamala, who spoke about clear and accessible communication on 5 March. At this opening session she was accompanied by Virginia Luzón Fernández, Vice-Rector for Communication at the UAB. The upcoming sessions are:
- 19 March: Pilar Orero and Estel·la Oncins, who will speak about accessible digital environments.
- 30 April: Carme Mangiron, who will speak about inclusion and the removal of barriers in video games.
Specialist’s Seat is one of the activities organised as part of the Science Carriage, a space dedicated to the communication of science and innovation located in an operational train carriage of FGC. The initiative offers passengers clear and engaging scientific talks with the aim of bringing research closer to the public and turning the carriage into a travelling laboratory for science communication.
The Science Carriage: Diversity
This year’s edition (the third) is dedicated to research on diversity in a broad sense, from gender to religion and ethnicity. The TransMedia Catalonia research group contributes its perspective as experts in disability, equal rights and accessibility.
