The research groups TALN (UPF), TRADILEX (UPF), TransMedia Catalonia (UAB), and ReLaTe (URV) will present activities to raise awareness on accessibility to information and communication

Research Night is held every year in cities all across Europe to connect research and innovation with the general public in a pleasant and enjoyable way. This year, the AccessCat Network will be represented by four research groups: ReLaTe (URV), TALN (UPF), TRADILEX (UPF) and TransMedia Catalonia (UAB). The event will be held on Friday, 29 September, from 18 to 22 h, at CosmoCaixa in Barcelona.

On the one hand, researchers from the four groups will organise the joint activity   «Digital content for all: Research on accessibility at Catalan universities», a series of workshops to find out if we can create video games, dictionaries, and other accessible digital content for all, and if AI can help us do this. There will be Catalan Sign Language interpreting.

The workshops will start at 18 h with talk by Santiago Egea (TALN) from SignON, an initiative that focuses on creating avatars that automatically translate sign language using artificial intelligence. From 19 to 20 h, Blanca Arias Badia (TraDiLex) will present an interactive game from the UNIVAC project, focused on accessibility in universities.

María Eugenia Larreina and Miguel Ángel Oliva (TransMedia Catalonia) will organise an activity on video game accessibility from 20 to 21 h. Finally, Geraint Paul Rees (ReLaTe) will wrap up the session with an interactive game on accessibility in dictionaries and a video demonstration on how to browse the accessible dictionary EdictViz.

Moreover, Estel·la Oncins, researcher from TransMedia Catalonia, will carry out the activity «Discovering cultural heritage in terms of accessibility and sustainability: Where the past meets the future», during which she will present three accessibility projects in communication, culture, and education: YoungArcHers, ATHENA, and WELL. It will also be held from 18 to 22 h, at CosmoCaixa in Barcelona.

In parallel, Sarah McDonagh and Chiara Gunella, also from Transmedia Catalonia, will offer the activity «Accessibility and inclusion in communication and the discussion on climate change and migration: GreenSCENT and MILE». It will be held from 18 to 22 h, at CosmoCaixa in Barcelona.
