TraDiLex (UPF), Neolcyt (UAB), TALN (UPF), AFIN (UAB), Nodes (UOC), TransMedia Catalonia (UAB), and GRIHO (UdL) research groups will be at CosmoCaixa Barcelona on the night of 27th September.
The AccessCat Network participates in the 2024 European Researchers’ Night for a second consecutive year. This initiative is held annually across Europe in more than 300 cities and 30 countries simultaneously. It aims to showcase to the European society the research and innovation conducted in the continent, as well as the researchers behind it. The evening is filled with accessible and easy-to-understand science and knowledge.
This year's edition of Researcher’s Night will take place on Friday, 27th September, in various locations.
At CosmoCaixa Barcelona, the network will participate with several activities:
- At the Research Fair, seven research groups—TraDiLex (UPF), Neolcyt (UAB), TALN (UPF), AFIN (UAB), Nodes (UOC), TransMedia Catalonia (UAB), and GRIHO (UdL)—will join forces under the coordination of researcher Irene Hermosa from TraDiLex for the activity Smart Cities: Accessible Cities. This session will address key elements in the construction of a city that is universal and accessible to all, including how to make democratic participation, education and universities, health decision-making, and clear communication with the administration more accessible (6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Lynn Margulis space, floor -5). There will be Catalan Sign Language (CSL) interpreting during the activity.
- The Create Your Own Poster: Raise Awareness about Climate Change workshop, led by researchers Chiara Gunella, Sarah Anne McDonagh, and Marta Brescia Zapata from the TransMedia Catalonia research group. The goal of this workshop is to create materials to inform about climate change in an accessible, clear, and impactful way (7:35 p.m., Sigma room, floor -2).
- In The Voice of Research, a performance combining research with entertainment. Miguel Ángel Oliva and Carme Mangiron from TransMedia Catalonia will present ‘Level Up! New Advances in Video Game Accessibility’, and Estel·la Oncins from TransMedia Catalonia will present Artificial Intelligence: A Transformative Tool for Everyone?’ (6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m., TAU room, floor -1).
At the Autonomous University of Barcelona Campus, the TransMedia Catalonia research group will participate:
- Scientific Workshops Fair with the activity Let’s Explore Accessibility! (5 p.m. to 9 p.m.).
- The University Goes to School initiative, with the activity Series and Video Games for Everyone.
At the University of Pavia (Italy):
Researcher Marina Pujadas from TransMedia Catalonia will participate at the Palazzo Centrale dell'Università di Pavia.
