Anna Matamala, Mario Montagud, and Sergi Fernández, researchers from the groups TransMedia Catalonia and MiA, attended this year’s NEM Summit, held in Berlin.
New European Media (NEM) is a telecommunications technology platform that hosts the NEM Summit every year to establish the sector’s strategic agendas. This year, the meeting was held in Berlin on 21 and 22 October and featured the participation of researchers Anna Matamala (research group TransMedia Catalonia, from the UAB), as well as Mario Montagud and Sergi Fernández (research group MiA, from i2Cat).
The two-day event was organised around a programme full of sessions dedicated to current developments in communication technologies, ranging from artificial intelligence to immersion in web environments.
- TransMedia Catalonia presented the Immerse project, which focuses on the use of virtual reality to teach foreign higher education students about the culture of their host country; ENACT, on easy-to-understand news, and InclusiVRity, on virtual reality as a tool to promote a more inclusive environment in secondary schools.
- MiA participated with a session aimed at presenting what the SNS JU projects have developed in terms of use cases and technologies. They specifically discussed 6G-BRICKS, 6G-XR, SUNRISE-6G, and PRESENCE XR.
In addition to participating in this event, the AccessCat Network and its researchers actively participated in NEM. Three researchers have been elected members of the NEM’s steering board, which is responsible for defining the organisation’s strategic vision. Anna Matamala will represent the AccessCat Network, Pilar Orero will represent the Autonomous University of Barcelona, and Sergi Fernández will represent Volum Technologies and i2Cat.
