This space served as an agora to bring together key sector stakeholders and was an opportunity to reconnect with researchers and network-affiliated entities.
On November 29, a11yConf took place in Girona, an agora to share knowledge, experiences, and best practices for creating digital products and services accessible to everyone. The event brought together key sector stakeholders, experts, professionals, and researchers, who engaged in roundtables, workshops, and talks dedicated to digital barriers.
The AccessCat Network participated as a Sponsor A, represented by its director, Anna Matamala. Affiliated entities TOTHOMweb, ecityclic, and the EARED Master in Digital Accessibility for Education, Communication, and Design at the University of Barcelona, which includes several network researchers as faculty members (Cris Ladaga, from LMI, and Afra Pascual, from GRIHO), also participated in the event as sponsors.
Researcher Afra Pascual also led the workshop “Mobile Accessibility Beyond the Screen Reader.” This training aimed to teach how to evaluate mobile application accessibility (text sizes, screen contrasts, or voice controls, among other features that determine user experience).
Overall, the attending researchers —Matamala, Ladaga, and Pascual— highlight the conference as an ideal space for interaction among stakeholders. They emphasize the value of conversations and networking facilitated by the presence of affiliated entities, researchers, and industry professionals, as well as the importance of talks such as Berta Nicolau’s (TOTHOMweb).
