The new research group’s primary goal is the description, analysis, and documentation of sign languages, with a particular focus on Catalan Sign Language (LSC).
AccessCat’s board welcomes the LSC Lab (Catalan Sign Language Laboratory) research group and three new affiliated entities that share AccessCat’s mission, values, and objectives.
LSC Lab is part of the Formal Linguistics Group (GLiF) at Pompeu Fabra University. After having formally signed the AccessCat agreement, members of the group will have full rights to participate in all activities, meetings, and calls directed at AccessCat members.
The main objective of LSC Lab is to document, analyse, and describe sign languages, especially Catalan Sign Language (LSC). This aligns perfectly with AccessCat’s mission of knowledge transfer. You can learn more about LSC Lab on their website.
Regarding the affiliated entities, here’s how each of them contributes to information and communication accessibility:
- LSC-UPF Actua: Catalan Sign Language Studies Centre at Pompeu Fabra University.
- MTP: A digital business insurance company offering website and app accessibility audits and certifications.
- Bleta: A start-up developing a tablet for older individuals, designed to be simple, comfortable, and intuitive.
