Anna Matamala, director of the AccessCat Network, has participated in the round table "Accessibility in the metaverse: Crafting Inclusive Virtual Worlds”.
The Network’s director and researcher at TransMedia Catalonia, Anna Matamala, has participated in the regional forum “Accessible Europe: ICT 4 All”, organised by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the European Commission, and co-organised by the European Accessibility Resource Centre (AccessibleEU). The event was held in Madrid on 13 and 14 December and brought together politicians, members of civil society, representatives from the academic sector, and key agents in the business world.
The main goal of this forum was to further delve into the importance of digital accessibility as an essential requirement for building inclusive societies, economies, and digital environments. The legislative landscape in Europe and the United Nation’s approach to digital accessibility were also presented.
Furthermore, attention was drawn to the current state of web accessibility and good practices were presented, and topics such as universal design, artificial intelligence, and the metaverse were addressed.
In this sense, Anna Matamala was one of the speakers at the round table “Accessibility in the Metaverse: Crafting Inclusive Virtual Worlds”, in which she presented the AccessCat Network and talked about the standardisation work performed on the accessible metaverse within the ITU Focus Group on Metaverse (FG-MV).
