The network will once again take part in the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), which this year will be held from 7 to 11 July in Geneva.

The World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) is an event organised by leading UN agencies (such as ITU, UNICEF, UNESCO, and others) with the aim of promoting global digital cooperation to build inclusive information and knowledge societies that are people-centred and development-oriented.

The AccessCat Network, a member of the ITU (the UN’s telecommunications agency) through the UAB, the network’s coordinating entity, is pleased to attend once again the summit. Throughout the summit, members of the network’s Executive Committee will have an information stand to share and explain the network’s knowledge transfer work and research into accessibility to communication, information, and education in Catalonia in an international setting.

On 7 July, from 17:00 to 17:45, researchers Anna Matamala (TransMedia Catalonia), Pilar Orero (TransMedia Catalonia), Estel·la Oncins (TransMedia Catalonia), Mireia Farrús (CLiC), and Mar Gutiérrez-Colón (ReLaTe) will lead the session “Media and Education for All: Bridging Female Academic Leaders and Society towards Impactful Results”, a round table that will explore female leadership in research through projects related to media and education that contribute to building an inclusive society, ensuring the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as ENACT, MOSAIC, InclusiVRity, and SCRIBAL.

You can find more information about the session at this link, and you can register to follow it online at this link [you will receive an email with access to a virtual portal from which you will be able to follow the session. The link (session 229, Room F) will open 30 minutes before it starts.]

Researcher Pilar Orero will also take part in a session on sustainable, accessible, and inclusive smart cities alongside international speakers. In addition, she will be present at the AI for Good summit, which will be held from 8 to 11 July, coinciding with WSIS.
