The joint efforts of the entities, both linked to the AccessCat Network, aim to create an English proficiency exam tailored to individuals with intellectual disabilities.
Discover the Industrial Doctorate, a PhD project where the doctoral student conducts their research in a company or institution in collaboration with a university, which oversees and supervises the doctoral thesis. Industrial Doctorate grants may vary, but they all share a common goal: fostering collaboration between the private and public sectors.
All companies, entities, and institutions interested in the Industrial Doctorate programme can find the guidelines on the Catalan Government website and in the resolution REU/694/2024, of February 28, opening the call for industrial doctorates (DI) for the year 2024.
To encourage members of the AccessCat Network to explore ideas that can translate into an Industrial Doctorate, we present two entities in the network that have joined forces in an Industrial Doctorate project: the ReLaTe research group (Rovira i Virgili University) and the affiliated entity Onada Foundation.
Their project aims to create an English proficiency exam tailored to individuals with intellectual disabilities, as, per today, there is currently no "official" exam that adequately measures their English language proficiency.
The collaboration with the Onada Foundation is essential. By participating in the foundation's English classes, the research team will be able to determine the most effective teaching methodology for students with special educational needs. This includes adapting tests to these methodologies while ensuring compliance with the standards of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
