The research groups GRIHO, from the University of Lleida, and GIAP, from the Catalan Institute of Classical Archaeology, bring the number of groups that make up the Network up to fourteen, while the number of affiliate entities has reached forty-three

The Network’s Board, which met online on 26 June, unanimously approved the adhesion of two new research groups and five affiliate entities to the AccessCat Network. Thus, the number of research groups increases to fourteen, and the number of affiliate entities increases to forty-three.

The new research groups are GRIHO (HCI and Data Integration Research Group), from the University of Lleida, and GIAP (Landscape Archaeology Research Group), from the Catalan Institute of Classical Archaeology.

Among other fields, GRIHO performs research in user experience, adaptive and distributed user interfaces, and the ageing of technology. Regarding accessibility, they have their own user-centred design methodology to develop usable and accessible systems, as well as knowledge and experience creating guides and experiments in the field of accessibility.

As for GIAP, it is a research group specialised in the study of how societies interact with their surroundings throughout time, and profiling how cultural landscapes are formed. Through all their projects, they aspire to become a benchmark in inclusive science and accessibility to archaeological knowledge in fields such as education, culture of proximity, or science communication.

Moreover, the Network also extends a warm welcome to five new affiliate entities: Architecture Without Borders, CEMFIS, Èlia Sala, Subtil, and Tothomweb. While Architecture Without Borders and CEMFIS are non-profit organisations who work in favour of inclusion, Èlia Sala, Subtil, and Tothomweb offer different services related to accessible communication.
