The director and the promoter of the Network took part in the TECSAM Network’s “Breakfast & Learn” to deliver a lecture in this online training series.

Breakfast & Learn” are open and free online training capsules dedicated to innovation, valorisation, and transfer, with special emphasis on mental health and technology, led by the TECSAM Network, one of the RDI networks within AGAUR.

The AccessCat Network was featured in the latest B&L, in April 2025, to highlight accessibility in research and knowledge transfer. Anna Matamala, director of the Network, and Carme Pratdesaba, promoter, were in charge of delivering the lecture. Some of the key points of the lecture are:

  • Remember that, in an increasingly digital world, ensuring accessible content, services, and events is essential in order to guarantee equal opportunities.
  • In order to perform accessible research and transfer, we must detect the needs of the participants in our research; that is, we must know and understand each individual situation in order to provide appropriate support.
  • If a participant requires an assistant (such as a sign language interpreter), we must address the participant.
  • Accessible informed consent forms: they must be clear and easy-to-understand for everyone, including persons with disabilities.
  • Consider the spaces where the activities or experiments will take place. They must be adapted and accessible for everyone.
  • Provide accessible feedback so that all participants can receive and understand it.
  • To ensure digital documents are accessible, the language must be labelled, the information must be structured hierarchically, appropriate styles must be used, and colour contrast must be ensured, among other best practices.
  • When drafting a competitive proposal to obtain funding, it is important to consider the resources that will be destined to communication accessibility.
