After six months in the programme, the research group took part in the Pla d’Acompanyament Llavor 2023 Demoday and presented its project, HablaVídeo.

The research group ReLaTe, from the Rovira i Virgili University and part of the AccessCat Network, was granted a Seed Aid (“Ajut Llavor” in Catalan) from AGAUR’s Knowledge Industry Programme in the 2023 call. These grants have a planned duration of 6 months and a total of 20,000 euros to be used to study the potential fit of projects in the productive sector and to analyse the value they generate for society.

To conclude the Ajut Llavor 2023 programme, Demoday was held on 16 July as an official closing event. During the event, eight standout projects were presented live, and video presentations of all the projects that followed the programme during its six-month duration were shown.

The ReLaTe group was present, and participation diplomas were distributed to Isabel Gibert, the project’s principal investigator, and all the members of the team: Lismary Castillo, Sandra Iglesia, Mar Gutiérrez-Colón, Andrea Bellot, and Dolores Barbazán.

The event concluded with speeches from several authorities: Laia Arnal, Director General of Transfer and Knowledge Society of the Government of Catalonia, Department of Research and Universities; Mercè Segarra, Vice-Rectorate of Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Transfer at the UB, and Nadal Bayà Fons, Head of Knowledge Transfer at the Government of Catalonia.

What is HablaVídeo?

The HablaVídeo project from the ReLaTe (URV) research group focuses on teaching Spanish pragmatics to people of Chinese origin who want to learn the language. The methodology, which is fully immersive, places the student in communicative situations that not only teach the language, but also how native speakers interact. This project, aside from teaching linguistic skills, also strives to teach the cultural and social implications linked to the language. Of course, the project also includes subtitles and audio description to make learning more accessible.
