An interdisciplinary methodology for developing specialised lexicons with simplified definitions in plain language. It aims to simplify terminology to meet the comprehension needs of non-expert users.

The expertise of the Neolcyt research group, with 30 years of experience, is built on five key pillars:

  1. Focus on plain language: One of the group’s main goals is to make specialised languages accessible to a wide audience. The simplified definitions in plain language from the DiPAP resource are one example.
  2. Historical and philological research: The group analyses specialised lexicons from a historical perspective, covering the period from 1884 to 1936. This approach helps to understand the evolution and adaptation of scientific terms in Spanish, highlighting the lexical innovation of the era.
  3. Interdisciplinarity: The group combines knowledge from philology, the history of science, and exact sciences, as well as web expertise. This comprehensive approach allows for a deep, contextualised understanding of the lexicon, facilitating a precise and enriched interpretation of terms.
  4. Panhispanic perspective: The focus on the linguistic diversity of Spanish across different Spanish-speaking countries ensures that the resources developed are inclusive and representative of the various forms of Spanish.
  5. Tekné Digital Platform: Neolcyt has developed the Tekné Digital Platform, which hosts essential tools for lexicographical research (DiccioTermCorpusPAP, and DiPAP).
