The winning solutions, put forth by the research groups TraDiLex (UPF) and CLiC (UB), will receive up to 20,000 euros in funding.

The mission of the AccessCat Network is to promote the transfer of research results on information and communication accessibility through different actions.
Because of this, the Network has kicked off the Call for Disruptive Solutions, which celebrates its first edition this year, whose objective is to fund valorisation studies for disruptive solutions (in technologies as well as services or innovative knowledge) in the field of accessibility.

On 19 March 2024, the Accessibility Solutions Awards were held, a successful event with over sixty attendees and participants, during which the solutions that had passed the first stage were presented. At the end of the event, the two winning solutions were announced, which may receive up to €20,000 of funding.

The selection process for the winning solutions consisted of two stages, one written and one oral. To pass the written stage, at least 60 points had to be awarded during the evaluation performed by the evaluation committee, which is based on the criteria established in the rules of the call. Three solutions passed the first stage: PlanAccess (TraDiLex), HablaVídeo (ReLaTe), and SCRIBAL (CLiC)

The second stage of the process, which is the oral presentation, was carried out during the Accessibility Solutions Awards. At the end of the event, the two winning solutions were announced:

  • PlanAccess: Planning accessible communication. A new methodology research-based methodology for the educational and cultural sectors.
    • Researchers: Blanca Arias and Irene Hermosa.
    • Research group: TraDiLex (UPF).
  • SCRIBAL: A digital transcriber for teaching.
    • Researcher: Mireia Farrús.
    • Research group: CLiC (UB).
